The KelTec P15 is a striker-fired, polymer pistol that weighs only 14oz and boasts a 15+1 capacity right out of the box. It’s the lightest, thinnest double-stack 9mm handgun on the market. The P15 is an excellent choice for concealed carry. This pistol offers plenty of dependable firepower to secure your world.
KelTec calls its new P15 pistol the “lightest, thinnest handgun” of its kind on the market. The company marks 30 years in business in 2022 with the P15 as its first striker-fired handgun.
Chambered in 9 mm Luger, the P15 features a polymer frame and capacity for 15 rounds in its patent-pending magazine design. The gun measures only 0.875″ wide according to company specs and, unloaded, weighs just 14 ozs. The gun’s controls include a slide-stop lever on the left side of the frame and a reversible magazine-release button. The frame also features a grip safety located just under the beavertail; there is no manual safety or trigger-blade safety included.
A fiber-optic front sight and an adjustable rear sight top the hybrid steel-and-polymer slide, which also includes serrations fore and aft. A single-slot Picatinny rail on the frame provides room for accessories
unveiled a brand new micro 9mm pistol at SHOT 2022, the P15. It is very much a part of the current trend of ever higher capacity micro concealed pistols. The P15 takes its name from the 15-round magazine that comes with the gun. A 12-round flush fit magazine is included as well.
The P15 has a grip safety in the usual location (as seen on the 1911 or XD series of handguns). Interestingly, this will be KelTec’s first striker-fired pistol design. The trigger reset does not work like most striker-fired triggers though. Its reset point is at basically full travel forward, meaning you have to release the trigger entirely forward for it to reset. Trigger pull weight is advertised at 5 pounds.
Some micro pistols compromise on sights, but not the P15. Included sights are a tritium and fiber optic combo that provide a very bright sight picture in bright conditions, and the classic tritium glow we are all used to in the dark.
The Kel-Tec P15 is 168 mm / 6.6″ long overall, features a 101,6 mm / 4″ barrel, and feeds through double-stack metal magazines with a polymer floorplate offering a full capacity of fifteen 9mm rounds, with 12 rounds flush-fit magazines being also available for deeper concealment. And despite that, the P15 is extremely thin, standing at merely 22 mm / 0.875″ – ideal for printless 24/7 carry.
The Kel-Tec P15 is built around a stamped black polymer frame whose overall design is firmly in line Kel-Tec’s signature aesthetics. A “Gator Grip” texture on the grip and a set of solid slip-proof grooves on the front and back strap and on the trigger guard ensure a firm hold in a variety of shooting positions and techniques.
The frame of the Kel-Tec P15 features a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for accessories, a reversible magazine release button and a grip safety. The blued slide is streamlined for quick, easy and snag-proof drawing and holstering, and features front and rear cocking serrations for easier handling and a set of factory HIVIZ sights, more specifically a green fiber optic front post and an adjustable rear sight.
