Description
henry original
When Henry Repeating Arms brought out the first Original Henry rifle as an all-American-made re-introduction of Benjamin Tyler Henry’s classic brass-framed 1860 lever action design, the reception was so positive that they got right to work on an “iron-framed” version, and that in turn led to two nicely engraved special editions as limited-run One-Of-1,000 offerings, both in brass frames. The first sold out almost immediately.
Building on the Original Henry’s specs, the Silver Engraved Deluxe still features a 24.5″ blued steel octagonal barrel, a full-length 13-round split magazine with external follower, a rotating barrel collar for front-end loading, a presentation-grade American Walnut stock and a distinctive crescent buttplate with the cleaning rod trapdoor. It also retains the period-correct folding ladder rear sight and “in-the-white” front blade, but like the first brass-framed offering the caliber has been updated to the more readily available .44-40. It’s the truly magnificent engraving done in a high-luster nickel finish that really sets this functional work of art apart from the rest.
This Silver Deluxe Engraved version uses a brass frame, like the first Original, but uses electroless nickel plating on the frame, buttplate, shell carrier, and magazine cartridge follower. The rifle is then finished off with a stunning engraving that covers 90% of the receiver surface. In keeping with the Civil War era that spawned the Original, we commissioned a patriotic theme for the new Silver Deluxe’s deeply detailed engraving pattern in the style of the times.
This beauty will be the centerpiece of your lever action collection, and like all Henry special edition heirlooms, it’s a shooter. But don’t wait too long; there’s only 1,000 being made, and they’ll go in a hurry.
After 151 years, the original Henry Rifle holds its value like few other things. The recent sale of a first model Henry Rifle brought an astonishing $207,000. Now you can have a limited edition line-by-line modern day Deluxe Engraved Original Henry rifle for your collection.
Benjamin Tyler Henry designed the original in 1860 and went into production in the depths of the Civil War. Of that original run, only 14,000 were made and very few remain. Genuine engraved Henrys from the early years are rare finds and highly prized by knowledgeable collectors. The majority of Henry Rifles were made with a distinctive brass frame which was often personalized by master engravers with the owner’s name and graceful tracery designs of the era.
Like the original Henrys of the 1860s, the Deluxe Engraved edition Henry offers today is already a genuine piece of American history. This rifle is a faithful line-by-line copy of the fabled Original is one reason. The sheer elegance of the piece is another. Using existing photos of those historic patterns, Henry’s artisans have replicated a distinctive scroll design which at the time was an evolution to both greater detail and fuller coverage engraving. They copy the original pattern, engrave the receiver to depth, and hand chase the scroll to add bright cuts and detail to this beautiful embellishment. And the fact that it starts out rare – only 1,000 will be made – means its value should only increase as time goes on.
The Original Henry Rifle Deluxe Engraved is a proud part of Henry’s effort to maintain the Henry legacy of beautiful and exemplary rifles. Limited to 1,000 units and featuring deluxe fancy American walnut buttstock. Serial number range is BTH00001 to BTH01000.
